CELEBRATING 50 YEARS IN BUSINESS!

Rick and Betty Bullock opened Bullock’s Deli in the small town of Denton, Maryland, in 1976 after purchasing the Lockerman Shell Station from Ms. Anna Lockerman. The original deli operated in a small building next to the current location, but it didn’t take long before the business outgrew that space. They later purchased the current property from the Gitta family—beekeepers and close friends of the Bullocks. The land once held an old farmhouse and several chicken houses. Yes, chicken houses within town limits—and one of them still remains today.

As the years passed, Rick and Betty continued to grow both their family and their business. Raising three children—Ritchie, Michele, and Angie—while running a new deli was no easy task, but they made it work. “Working with family can be difficult and rewarding at the same time. The rewarding part is that we got to spend so much time together.” The memories created during those years have become priceless treasures.

In 2011, their youngest daughter, Angie, was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. It was an incredibly difficult time for the entire family, and heartbreakingly, Angie lost her battle in 2013 at the age of 32. She was the beautiful and proud mother of her 9‑year‑old daughter, Ashley. Today, Ashley is 22 and recently married, welcoming Willard Frazier as the newest member of the family.

After 54 years of marriage, Rick and Betty are proud grandparents to four wonderful grandchildren: Kailee, Ashley, Joe, and Angelina. “We are excited to see what their future holds!”

Located just a quarter mile off Route 404 in Denton, Bullock’s Deli offers a wide variety of delicious options from a lengthy menu, including breakfast, lunch, homemade soups, and more.
